HKUST Admissions Requirements

Hong Kong University of Science and Technology provide online application for students to apply admission to join the University. HKUST welcome students from diverse educational background, including local, Mainland and international students. HKUST offer online application for international Qualifications, JUPAS, Mainland JEE, Post-Secondary and Visiting Applicants. For more information and requirements, please check below.

Advanced Credit – Credit Transfer on Entry

The University may grant the credits for applicants who have attained advanced qualifications prior to their admission to HKUST. The number of credits be granted would base on the equivalency of applicants’ pre-tertiary qualifications to HKUST courses. Local and international students admitted to the 4-year curriculum may be granted up to 30 such transfer credits, all of which will count towards the 120 credits required for graduation.

Students admitted on specific qualification will be granted advanced credits, the requirements as follows:
  • 9 University Common Core credits
  • 9 University Common Core credits;
  • 12 unassigned free credits
  • 9 University Common Core credits;
  • 12 unassigned free credits
Students with subject attainments in pre-tertiary public examinations or post-secondary qualifications may be granted transfer credits if the examinations are accredited in the University Course Equivalence Database. Students would have to apply for credit transfers to the HKUST’s Academic Regulations and Records Office upon their enrollment. For further details, please visit here.
