Advanced Credit – Credit Transfer on Entry

Advanced credits may be granted to students who have attained pre-tertiary qualifications or studies completed elsewhere at an appropriate level prior to admission to HKUST. Students may be granted up to 30 advanced credits, which will count towards the 120 credits required for graduation.

Students admitted with the following qualifications will be granted advanced credits:
  • 9 University Common Core credits
  • 9 University Common Core credits;
  • 12 unassigned free credits
  • 9 University Common Core credits;
  • 12 unassigned free credits
Students who have attained the required level or scores in specific subjects in pre-tertiary public examinations or post-secondary qualifications may be granted transfer credits if the examinations are accredited in the University Course Equivalence Database. Students would have to apply for credit transfers to the HKUST’s Academic Registry Office upon their enrollment. For further details, please visit here.
