School of Humanities and Social Science (SHSS)
Ranked first in its citations in social sciences among Asian universities, the School of Humanities and Social Science offers the largest interdisciplinary program in humanities and social sciences in Greater China. It offers an explicit program-wide comparative perspective in Global China Studies, and an integrated training in social science theory and evidence in Quantitative Social Analysis.
HKUST is ranked 5th in Asia for Social Sciences and Management. The School has developed very strong research credentials, ranked No. 1 in Citations in Social Science among Asian Universities and No. 26 in the world for Social Science by the QS World University Ranking 2019.

HKUST SHSS currently offers two undergraduate degree program – BSc in Global China Studies and BSc in Quantitative Social Analysis. Students receive a multidisciplinary training in relevant subjects, covering a wide range of important topics such as globalization, economic development, social and political change, literature, media and history. Students could also consider admission to one of the interdisciplinary programs mentioned in Interdisciplinary Programs Office page after first year of study.
