Interdisciplinary Programs Office (IPO)
The Interdisciplinary Programs Office is a significant development in HKUST’s well-established tradition of innovative teaching, learning and research. The IPO works with all Schools to develop synergistic relationships between different fields of study, thereby producing a new type of graduates who can competently meet today’s interdisciplinary studies challenges. Students admitted to any of the Schools (SSCI, SENG, SBM) can choose to declare an interdisciplinary major or dual degree upon completion of one year of study at their respective Schools.
Combining the strengths of HKUST, programs offered by the IPO are quality assured. For instance, HKUST is ranked 25th in Environmental Sciences in the QS World University Rankings 2014. The University is also ranked 5th in Social Sciences & Management as well as Engineering & Technology in the QS Asian University Rankings 2014.
The IPO currently offers three four-year BSc degree programs:
- BSc in Environmental Management and Technology (EVMT)
- BSc in Risk Management and Business Intelligence (RMBI)
- BSc in Individualized Interdisciplinary Major (IIM)
Students in the five-year Dual Degree Program can choose to enroll in either a specific engineering discipline or a Bachelor of Science in Biotechnology, together with a Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business Management.
