Compared with the BBA in Economics, our BSc in Economics and Finance (ECOF) places greater emphasis on the use of quantitative methods and techniques to form an in-depth understanding of the modern economy and public policy. Students are required to complete a research-based capstone course to demonstrate their solid base of economic knowledge and mastery of quantitative research skills.
This program is suitable for students who aspire to pursue careers that require strong analytical and quantitative skills, such as in investment banks, consulting, data analysis, and economics. The sophisticated analytical training and quantitative research skills offered by the program also prepare students to pursue further studies.
The flexibility of our curriculum design allows ECOF students to pursue additional majors in other business areas. Students may also take minors offered by other schools at HKUST. Synergizing economics and finance, the program makes ECOF graduates competitive in pursuing a range of careers across business fields.
