Students who wish to spend more time exploring their interests in the field of physical science may apply and be admitted to Science (Group A) without a major. They can opt to declare Data Science and Technology as the major upon completion of the first year of study.

Description
Students who wish to spend more time exploring their interests in engineering may apply and be admitted to School of Engineering without a major. They will be able to apply to Data Science and Technology during the Major Selection Exercise at the end of the first two semesters.

Description

The BSc in Data Science and Technology (DSCT) program is offered jointly by the School of Science and the School of Engineering. Every day, many data specialist/scientist positions are created in various business and industry sectors to make best use of the massive datasets collected in these sectors. Graduates of data science and technology programs are in high demand in today’s job market. The DSCT program equips students with the various mathematical tools, data analytical skills, and IT technologies required to make sense of real large-scale data obtained from various sources.

The program also provides students with fundamental and in-depth knowledge in specific areas, with an emphasis on mathematical and computational subjects. Additionally, students receive hands-on experience of and expert guidance in practical data analysis, providing a good foundation for their future careers. Areas of expertise in this program include machine learning, classification, clustering, data mining, database management, cloud computing, and data visualization, etc.

This program provides students not only with mathematical and computational skills but also hands-on data analytical skills, providing a solid foundation for their future careers.

“Pursuing a bachelor degree towards Data Science and Technology has been one of the most remarkable experiences in my life. It gives me the opportunity to fulfill my passion of making sense of data. The well-designed curriculum prepares me for internships and research opportunities with different professors. However, the whole journey would not be nearly as meaningful without the incredible fellows I have met in the Data Science family and the much larger School of Science community.
